Operator Job Description:

BROAD FUNCTION:

1. Manages the operation of the plant during the assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and prescribed safety and environmental standards.
2. Maintains daily Operation logs for shift in accordance with prescribed standards.
3. Uses required Personal Protective Equipment at all times and performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. (crush proof safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, chemical protection and H2S monitoring equipment)
4. Ensures compliance with all applicable procedures in the company. O&M Manual. Resource Manual. Safety Manual, and COMPANY OPERATIONS CORP. Human Resource Manual. Knows and understands the project's Business Plan, and ensures compliance with applicable State, Federal, and local rules and regulations.
5. Be familiar with and follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
6. Be familiar with all plant auxiliaries including but not limited to landfill gas collection system, and plant processing systems.
7. Be familiar with and perform work tasks in order to fulfill Corporate, Business Unit, and Personal Goals.




SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operate control systems.
2. Perform plant rounds as requested
3. Maintains all assigned operating logs in proper order.
4. Observes applicable safety and environmental regulations while performing assigned task and directions from supervisor.
5. Assist supervisory staff with operational planning of outages.
6. Ensure project compliance with government rules and regulations.
7. Respond to call- outs and work overtime as necessary.
8. Maintain Control Room cleanliness
9. Acquire knowledge of all plant equipment
10. Perform analytical tests as needed example: PH, Conductivity, methane, H2S

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrate skill and knowledge in the following areas:
1. Demonstration of control system operation including information access, control manipulation, and alarm retrieval.
2. Explanation of the operation of the compressors, process skid, refrigeration unit, and sulfatreat system. Demonstration/simulation of a unit start-up, shutdown, and/or casualty response as described in the Operating Instructions and governed by prudent operating practices.
3. Environmental and regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. Understanding of process control systems as applied to landfill gas collection and processing.
2. Knowledge of basic math, gas chemistry, piping and instrumentation drawings.
3. Ability to read blueprints and follow established procedures with minimal amount of general supervision (i.e., work independently).
4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.
5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrated use of a calculator to perform the above calculations is sufficient.
6. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
7. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


RELATIONSHIPS:

1. Reports to and takes direction from Facility Manager.
2. Must work harmoniously with all plant personnel.
3. May instruct and/or train employees at the direction of Facility Manager.
4. Must interface harmoniously with personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Basic Electrical, Chemical and Mechanical experience is preferred but not required.

The employee is required to stand and walk over uneven ground, climb a ladder, lift, squat and kneel. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to work outside in the elements, hot and cold. The environment is often loud, and hearing protection is required. The employee, on occasion, may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and there are odors associated with land fill gas that can be offensive.
